Session Description

This session will demonstrate the configuration work that staff within the University of Wisconsin consortium did to optimize Alma's Resource Sharing (RS) module to best fit patron and staff needs. Upon migrating to Alma in May 2015, 13 of the 14 libraries within our consortium were configured with a two-desk RS setup, necessitating an abundant and complex workflow to do basic transit of books and media materials from one library within the consortium to another. After observing how a one-desk solution for our sole campus configured that way could minimize steps and speed up the workflow, we set about designing a plan to reconfigure all of our libraries in such a manner.

This presentation is designed to show Alma administrators and RS Managers how the workflow may be simplified under a one-desk solution, as well as how to undertake such a transformative step in a live environment. If you use RS and want a simpler solution than the two-desk setup, we plan to show you how to get there.
