Abstract

A big challenge that faces higher education is creating effective interdisciplinary linkages and teams to:  confront the many threats posed by anthropogenic activities; develop a sustainable future; and prepare today's students to meet future intellectual and workforce demands through scholarship, research, practice and informed citizenship. At the heart of the challenge is the pressing need for effective interdisciplinary curriculum materials that use knowledge, data, methods, approaches, and perspectives to transcend disciplinary and professional boundaries. This presentation panel is sponsored by InTeGrate, which is an NSF-funded community project to improve science literacy and use geoscience to address societal issues. In this session, peer-reviewed curriculum products will be featured that address environmental and sustainability issues related to urban environments, ecojustice, food, oceans and  natural hazards related to Earthquakes.
