In this talk, we explore the medium of podcasting as a pedagogical strategy for enhancing integration of interdisciplinary content and concepts in environmental studies courses. In particular, we will reflect upon pedagogical lessons learned, present synthesis of student learning outcomes, as well as analysis and clips from student podcasts produced across three semesters in a junior/senior environmental studies seminar.  We find that podcasting serves as a creative focal point for students to integrate of social and natural science research and concepts in a single narrative thread. Through a series of scaffolded assignments, students enhanced key skills including interdisciplinary information literacy, qualitative interviewing, writing and speaking to a public audience, and audio editing.  Additionally, the exercise provides opportunity for salient class discussions on the role of the journalist and scientist in environmental communication, journalistic ethics, as well as the analysis of rhetorical strategies in popular media.  The journalistic format and assignment requirements for interviews also connected students to people and communities outside of the classroom and beyond the campus.
