
One of the biggest challenges for higher education is creating effective interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary linkages to address the many “wicked problems” facing society. More specifically, higher education needs to develop the capacity of its faculty and administrators to more effectively lead and manage the integration of disciplines and perspectives across diverse disciplinary and professional divides. This session sponsored by the Association of Environmental Studies and Sciences (AESS) and Council of Environmental Deans and Directors (CEDD) will provide strategies, approaches, and ideas for catalyzing change at the course to program level to meet the emerging needs for integration across disciplines and perspectives. These approaches need to be embedded in student education. It will specifically engage participants in the processes, approaches, and products developed by two NSF-funded projects - the InTeGrate Project and the EMBERs project.
