Session Description
Often, we are starting with the wrong question. Instead of asking what specific outcome we want to achieve, what if we asked what do we want to discover? Informed by her work to explore opportunities for student-centered education, Connie Yowell proposes a new paradigm for grantmakers where they are not objective observers but hands-on “tinkerers” actively engaged with grantees in innovating, learning and iterating their way to social change. Connie will share examples of how wonder and curiosity have been incorporated into education through the use of games and play, and how they have the potential to accelerate the work of grantmakers and nonprofits alike.
