2013 Annual Conference

November 5–8, 2013

Lexington, KY

It is time to review the schedule for the placement of your session in the AAACE Agenda. This is the final draft of the Schedule. When you look up your name, use the detail listing to check what days/times you asked to be placed. This is a huge program and we can accommodate necessary changes in day and time now, but may not be able to do so after September 1, 2013 except in emergencies. Please carefully check your placement and send any requests to Ginger Phillips, AAACE Conference Planner with AAACE Session Change Request in the subject line. We will respond to your email, but it may take us up to a week to do so. Thanks for your help in "fine tuning" this agenda!

Target Audience

This session is designed for adult educators from across the globe who have experienced, designed, delivered, or written about MOOCs as well as from those with curiosity questions.

Learning Outcomes

--Define and describe: What is a MOOC (Massive Online Open Course) and what is the “Open Access” movement?
---Identify present and potential future critical issues pertaining to individuals, organizations, and society-at-large relevant to the personal and professional use of and accessibility to MOOCs, as well as their nature, design, and delivery in developed and developing countries.
---Contribute their own voices and hear those of others who have experienced, designed, delivered, or written about MOOCs as well as from those with curiosity questions.

Session Description

In our rapidly changing world MOOCs are being heralded as one of the fastest growing advances in the information communication technology arena. They have also been the subject of criticism, debate, and dialogue in both developed and developing countries. Are MOOCs for you? Your organization? Your country? Come explore the possibilities and perils of this terrain.

To provide a common context for understanding, the session begins with a short input session to define and give examples of MOOCs and their historical trajectory. You are invited to come explore questions and concerns and to share your own success stories and challenges. We invite anyone presenting on MOOCs at the conference to join in.

Efforts are made to try to schedule sessions on the day preferred by the Primary Presenter, though this cannot be guaranteed. Please check your preference.
