This presentation will discuss the importance of providing long-term access to selected digital content, understanding how to manage your digital resources, and how to use Rosetta software to manage file formats, digital storage, obsolescence risks, metadata, and to avoid changes to digital files. Long term management and access is important for everyone working with digital materials to understand, not only the importance of digital preservation, but how to implement a program within your organization.  The presentation will look at six fundamental topics of preserving digital objects: 1.) Identify the types of digital content you have and select the digital content you want to be accessible long-term. 2.) Best methods for managing long term file metadata 3.) Storing your digital content securely 4.) Protect your content from everyday threats (changes, obsolescence, loss, etc.) 5.) Create a preservation plan for long term management. 6.) Provide access to digital content over time.
