Environment and Environmental Science in Uzbekistan: Perspectives of a US Fulbright Scholar

Abstract
After teaching environmental science for a semester at the National University of Uzbekistan, I plan to share some perspectives on the state of the academic disciplines of ecology in this former Soviet Republic. I will also describe the general academic isolation of the country and the poor quality and accessibility of environmental data. Having traveled to eight of their regional universities and having visited the country several times before I will share these institutional insights with some thoughts on improving environmental education.
