Discussion Symposium

Abstract

Sustainability as a theme in higher education has led to the integration of sustainability goals and practices as part of strategy development and planning on many university campuses. As commitments such as the Climate Leadership Commitments from Second Nature have celebrated ten year anniversaries, though, a shift has occurred in how sustainability is addressed and which priorities receive attention. Sustainability directors from schools within the District of Columbia will provide highlights of the sustainability paths their schools have taken and will discuss recent changes and future plans. Themes such as resiliency, utilizing partnerships to achieve milestones, and alignment of university goals with city and global climate related goals will be highlighted.
