Last year, we delved into an introduction of non-binary identities and issues, exploring the differences (and similarities) in sex and gender, the history of non-binary people around the world, and how to support non-binary people. This year, we will hear from local non-binary activists of color as they discuss the current issues, needs, and next steps for the community.

NiK Kacy, NiK Kacy Footwear
Presenter Bio

NiK Kacy is the Founder and President of luxury brand, NiK Kacy Footwear, an LGBT-certified business, which creates gender-equal footwear and accessories for genders and identities in all spectrums. As a transmasculine individual who also identifies as nonbinary, Kacy’s designs are inspired by both their personal identity, style and fashion, as well as, the larger LGBTQ community. Their hope is to provide a solution to individuals who have been seeking footwear alternatives that fit not only their feet but also their authentic expression of self. Their mission is to utilize fashion as activism in a way that changes perspectives so that gender no longer acts as a limitation and equality becomes the vernacular that all individuals speak.

Deka Jordyn Speaks
Presenter Bio

Deka is a Afro-latinx, queer, two spirit femme. They are an Alumni of UC Riverside. While there, Deka was a key component to of planning executing the first two Asterisk Trans* conferences. Deka is currently pursuing their Masters of Science in Higher Education and hopes to work with marganalized students within academia.

Presenter Bio

Celia is an Asian Indian trans women of color who is an activist, advocate, business professional, motivator, musician, artist, photographer and a filmmaker. She currently resides in Ventura county with her family. Celia volunteers for many non profit organizations, churches, institutions and LGBTQ+ resource groups in the Ventura county. She was instrumental in reviving a local LGBT support group in Southern California to include transgender and gender non-confirming individuals across the gender spectrum.
