Assessing for Mental Illness in the Gender-Expansive Community: A Trauma-Informed Approach
Workshop Description
The more we learn about trauma, the more we know how pivotal integrating a trauma-informed approach into the care of every patient is. This workshop will look at the neurological and epigenetic changes in an individual who develops while experiencing chronic stress, to include that related to gender identity. In addition, we will look at the subset of patients who identity as transgender who are also struggling with mental illness. We will discuss diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care planning from a holistic, gender-affirming approach.
