Beyond “Do No Harm”: Using Your Power and Privilege for Change

Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 1:30 PM–2:50 PM PDT
Rm 611
Workshop Description

“The trouble is that not enough people have come together with the firm determination to live the things which they say they believe.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

The harsh reality is that it’s no longer enough to simply be “inclusive” or “welcoming” in the current climate. Unchecked aggression at the highest levels of government against already marginalized communities demands an aggressive resistance from more than just the individuals within those populations.

Beyond creating safe spaces within our businesses, how can we as providers of care and services really make a difference? Whether it’s among poker buddies or faith communities, we are each uniquely positioned to create change in places these targeted people can barely begin to reach.

If you’re feeling called to go high when they go low, but you aren’t sure where to start, join our discussion. Develop your own personal action plan to change the world, starting where you are right now.
