Workshop Description

Now more than ever, transgender visibility is of crucial importance. Our community must control and promote our own narratives. It is the only path toward equity and equality. Our community needs the proper skills to successfully communicate publicly. This lecture/workshop will give participants hands-on experience speaking in front of other people. For many, standing in front of a group and speaking publicly brings a tremendous amount of fear and hesitation. For transgender and gender-expansive people, this fear is likely something that becomes a hyper-focused setback in moving forward professionally or as an advocate. We will explore the best practices for connecting to and engaging any audience regardless of topic. Confidence, vocalization, persona, advocacy, and presentation tools will all be discussed. Ultimately, the session will help participants lay the right groundwork for positive, uplifting, and impactful public speaking.
