2013 Annual Conference

November 5–8, 2013

Lexington, KY

It is time to review the schedule for the placement of your session in the AAACE Agenda. This is the final draft of the Schedule. When you look up your name, use the detail listing to check what days/times you asked to be placed. This is a huge program and we can accommodate necessary changes in day and time now, but may not be able to do so after September 1, 2013 except in emergencies. Please carefully check your placement and send any requests to Ginger Phillips, AAACE Conference Planner with AAACE Session Change Request in the subject line. We will respond to your email, but it may take us up to a week to do so. Thanks for your help in "fine tuning" this agenda!

Learning Outcomes

Participants will learn how one educational institution, Sinclair Community College, developed long-standing relationships that contribute to a more robust Lifelong Learning program.
Participants will also learn about the benefits of these partnerships to both the partner and to the Lifelong Learning students.

Session Description

Research continues to point out that staying active, both physically and mentally, has a bearing on the length of life and the quality of life. Sinclair's College for Lifelong Learning program engages approximately 2,500 students each term, with many classes being offered off-campus at convenient sites across the community. The number of classes, as well as the breadth of subject matter, are only possible through a number of alliances and partnerships that have been carefully cultivated and maintained over many years. How were these partnerships developed? What benefits do they bring to all those involved? How does a memoir writing class support socialization? How do classes in Hula Hoop, No Tu-tu Ballet, and others provide health benefits? Hear from Sinclair's coordinator for the program, as well as the community partners themselves. This presentation seems particularly relevant to the conference's 2014 theme, "Building Sustainable Futures through Learning and Partnerships."

Efforts are made to try to schedule sessions on the day preferred by the Primary Presenter, though this cannot be guaranteed. Please check your preference.
