The perception of justice develops and changes with one’s developmental progression of more complex meaning making. Social justice is explored through constructive developmental theory and the self, voice, and mind.
Target Audience
Individuals who are researching or interested in how adults develop, grow, and learn, adult educators with an interest in social justice and morality, and those focusing on ways in which adults become cognizant of social justice should attend this session.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending this session, learners will discover a way to apply constructive developmental theory to a key component of critical theory, that of social justice. Examination of social justice through a developmental lens can provide adult learners and adult educators with insights regarding how adults become aware of the concept of social justice and how this awareness contributes to their actions.
Session Description
A concurrent session is important for this topic in demonstrating interpretations and perspectives of how constructive developmental theory is relevant to the ways in which adult educators and adult learners view and understand social justice. A concurrent session provides adult educators and adult learners with the opportunity to be exposed to new and potentially different applications of constructive developmental theory. Furthermore, it pertains directly to the conference theme by presenting a topic for future collaboration and discussion within the various sectors of adult education.
Efforts are made to try to schedule sessions on the day preferred by the Primary Presenter, though this cannot be guaranteed. Please check your preference.
