Acquisitions - Update on New and Upcoming Features
Conference or Developers Day
Conference
Abstract
This session will review some major developments both already done as well as planned in two areas of Alma: the “Evaluations and Trials” and the “Purchase Requests”. As part of the 2018 roadmap, Alma development is devoting considerable resources to both of these areas, with significant improvements to existing functionality. These improvements stem directly from library feedback and discussions with Ex Libris. The Alma evaluation and trial process allows library staff and patrons to evaluate a resource before it is purchased, thereby ensuring that funds will be expended on useful and desired material. The Purchase Requests functionality allows both staff as well as end users to request that certain resources be acquired by the library. This is yet another way to ensure that resources purchased by the institution are those which are needed by the end users.
