It is time to review the schedule for the placement of your session in the AAACE Agenda. This is the final draft of the Schedule. When you look up your name, use the detail listing to check what days/times you asked to be placed. This is a huge program and we can accommodate necessary changes in day and time now, but may not be able to do so after September 1, 2013 except in emergencies. Please carefully check your placement and send any requests to Ginger Phillips, AAACE Conference Planner with AAACE Session Change Request in the subject line. We will respond to your email, but it may take us up to a week to do so. Thanks for your help in "fine tuning" this agenda!

Session Abstract
This session involves a discussion of assessment within adult/higher education and will reveal some findings from a dissertation study that sought to capture how faculty members define college-level learning.
Target Audience
Those who teach or are involved in adult and higher education.
Learning Outcomes
Broader understanding of assessment and debates about it; Increased awareness of the assessment issues associated with PLA and the similarity to classroom assessment; An introduction to a discussion about the definition of college-level learning within adult and higher education today.
Session Description
This presentation will report on the results of a qualitative study of faculty members who assess PLA and also teach in the traditional classroom. The study explored the faculty assessors’ assumptions, perceptions, and definitions of college-level learning as manifested in their assessment of PLA, and also sought to capture their internal processes of assessment. Since the faculty members all teach in the classroom this study sheds important light on the larger issue of assessment and accountability. Key concerns here are the different ways that these faculty members approach assessment, the differing definitions of college-level learning, and their feelings about assessment.
Efforts are made to try to schedule sessions on the day preferred by the Primary Presenter, though this cannot be guaranteed. Please check your preference.
