Pre- and Post-operative Care for the Primary Care Provider

Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 1:30 PM–2:50 PM PDT
Rm 205
Workshop Description

More primary care providers are treating transgender patients, yet few of us have had formal training in transgender medicine, let alone peri-operative trans care! Dr. Gromko has treated transgender patients for 20 years, and has followed her own patients as they have returned from surgeries performed all over the world. This workshop will begin with a basic review of feminizing and masculinizing surgeries. Pre-operative evaluation and patient preparation will be discussed. See patient photos of early results in feminizing and masculinizing procedures so you know what "normal" can look like. Feel more confident in knowing when to reassure—and when to worry. The non-surgical management of common post-operative problems will be included.
