Session Description

What’s the secret to giving exciting presentations? The presenter introduces PechaKucha, a simple presentation alternative using PowerPoint format consisting of 20 slides of carefully chosen images that are shown for 20 seconds each. PechaKucha helps improve public speaking skills and presentation organization, timing, and creativity. Attendees will learn teaching strategies on how to implement PechaKucha in the classroom. Steps for creating the PechaKucha format, presentation guidelines, and example lesson plans will be discussed.

Brief Bio

Laura Parker has been teaching as an English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor at the University of Oklahoma Center for English as a Second Language since 2015. She obtained her M.A. TESOL through Emporia State University while teaching English in Beijing, China. Currently, she is working toward her Doctorate of Education in Adult Education.
