Session Description

Building community within an online course is essential to an effective student experience. Research demonstrates that the discussion component is one of the most effective means to facilitate the learning experience and to promote student-centered learning and build community. Discussions help students interact with one another and develop relational connections. This session will share innovative practices involving the use of blogging, video and visuals within the discussion board. These elements may also be used to supplement the discussion component within online or face-to-face courses.
