Session Description

Inspiring creative approaches to growth through student success initiatives was one goal of the USC Palmetto College Chancellor's Innovation Grant opportunity for faculty and staff throughout the University of South Carolina system. This session will share the Innovation Grant process and the USC Aiken Online Teaching Faculty Academy project. The Academy assists faculty in delivering online education that meets best practices, including responsiveness to student learning needs, thereby enhancing student success.

Brief Bio

Chancellor Susan Elkins serves as the chief administrative officer of Palmetto College of the University of South Carolina, which includes online bachelor’s degree completion programs, four associate degree-granting campuses, Extended University and Fort Jackson. Dr. Elkins previously served as Vice President of Extended Programs and Regional Development, Dean of the College of Interdisciplinary Studies, and Professor at Tennessee Technological University.

Alice Taylor-Colbert, Ph.D., University of South Carolina Palmetto College
Brief Bio:

Dr. Alice Taylor-Colbert serves as Director of Innovation for USC Palmetto College. One of her roles is to facilitate strategic partnerships for Palmetto College programs. She previously served as USC Union Dean, as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Lander University, and in other academic leadership roles. She is Professor of History and holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from Emory University.

Dr. Hendrikus E.J.M.L. van Bulck, M.B.A., Ph.D., University of South Carolina Sumter
Brief Bio

Dr. Hendrikus E.J.M.L. van Bulck is a Professor of Business Administration at USC Sumter and USC Aiken. He teaches face-to-face and asynchronous business administration courses for USC Aiken and USC Palmetto College. He holds a Ph.D. in International Business and Marketing from the University of Georgia. He is a CPA and is accredited in business valuation (ABV) by the AICPA.
