Developing Financial Crime related Continuing Education Programing

Monday, October 8, 2018 at 3:00 PM–4:00 PM EDT
Intrepid
Session Description

With the increasing focus on identifying, preventing, and punishing financial crimes. Continuing education and professional development programs are an excellent platform for delivery in online, face-to-face, or hybrid formats. Unfortunately, many academics and administrators are unsure whether the programs and related courses should rest fall within the purview of business or criminal justice departments. The presenter provides anecdotal evidence supporting the necessity of psychology, business, criminal justice, law, political science, and sociology courses or content to develop a cost-conscious and balanced fraud education program. There is additional discussion as to the importance of developing on-going content, creating progressive certificates, embedding practitioners, and partnering with fraud and financial crime professional associations. Some content includes information available through the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
