Session Description

In this session, participants will learn 7 key strategies they can use to increase contract training revenue. Whether you have a small contract training division or a large contract training division, participants will learn tangible ideas and strategies they can implement immediately at their campus. This session will be interactive with the sharing of best practices by two ACHE members who run diverse and successful contract training divisions.
Participants will learn the following:
- Learn 7 key strategies for contract training
- Discover new markets and clients for contract training programs
- Learn how to leverage existing programs and curriculum to diversify contract training opportunities

Alex Read, Sacramento State College of Continuing Education
Brief Bio

Alex Read develops, designs, implements, and delivers professional development programs for the College of Continuing Education at Sacramento State. He is responsible for a portfolio of certificate and customized contract training programs. In a leadership role with the organization, Alex creates a team environment that fosters collaboration and growth of the department. In addition to these responsibilities, Alex assists in operationalizing our strategic plans to meet the goals and objectives of the university.

Oregon State Univeristy Melanie Mitchell, Oregon State University
Brief Bio:

Melanie Mitchell directs Oregon State University’s self-sustaining business unit responsible for professional and continuing education initiatives for the University. With over 14 years experience in continuing education, Melanie is an experienced leader with strong entrepreneurial, strategic management, business/leadership development, and change management skills. She is able to identify new business opportunities; provide structured plans and models for innovative projects; and oversee development, implementation, and training, all within the operational framework of the organization's mission and vision. As a self-reflective, lifelong learner Melanie is committed to establishing a cooperative climate across OSU and maintaining solid relationships with higher education administration, students, and community while advancing organizational goals and objectives. Melanie earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Oregon and a Masters Degree in Special Education from Chapman University.
