Session Description

Educational Institutions rely on their mission to provide a clear roadmap for who they are, who they serve, and how their core values and beliefs distinguish them in the marketplace. Over time, institutions may find that their original mission no longer fits the marketplace or the constituents they choose to serve. Changing a mission, and resulting mission statement, has an impact on not only stakeholders but academic programs and total institutional culture. In this session, two seasoned academic administrators will share their experiences with changing the mission in two different institutions, in order to insure the survival of the institutions in todays market. Two case studies will be presented and analyzed for their potential success or failure. Group participation will be invited in projecting long term viability of these two institutions.
