Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 9:15 AM–10:15 AM EDT
Newport
Session Description

Suicidal leadership (SL) is a series of downward spiraling fatal errors that depletes leaders’ effectiveness and eventually culminates in their termination from the leadership position. Results of over 20 years of actual case studies of higher education leaders will be presented. The studies identified the pathway to suicidal or fatal leadership and includes six phases. The phases include: (1) the disequilibrium phase; (2) the reactive phase, (3) the impulsive phase, (4) the weakened phase, (5) the neurotic phase, and (6), the termination phase or SL. Decisions/behaviors at each phase will be presented as well as themes arising from the case studies. You will take away practical strategies from this session that have the potential to reduce your chances of succumbing to suicidal leadership and help you perform your leadership role in a more efficiency manner.
