It is time to review the schedule for the placement of your session in the AAACE Agenda. This is the final draft of the Schedule. When you look up your name, use the detail listing to check what days/times you asked to be placed. This is a huge program and we can accommodate necessary changes in day and time now, but may not be able to do so after September 1, 2013 except in emergencies. Please carefully check your placement and send any requests to Ginger Phillips, AAACE Conference Planner with AAACE Session Change Request in the subject line. We will respond to your email, but it may take us up to a week to do so. Thanks for your help in "fine tuning" this agenda!

Session Abstract
This paper reports on a survey study of the state of Adult Education Graduate Programs in North America and on faculty perspectives on programmatic issues and levels of faculty satisfaction.

It is especially relevant to members of the Commission of Professors, journal editors, and the AAACE Executive Committee, as well as anyone who is interested in Graduate Progams in Adult Education or faculty issues in the field.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will have a sense of:
1) The current state of the Adult Education Professoriate from a data perspective
2) Issues that faculty believe are important in their programs
3) Some sense of the literature overall on faculty development and satisfaction overall, as well as the extent and level of faculty satisfaction at different types of institution.
4) Participants will also engage on a discussion of the implications for the future.
Session Description
All who work in higher education work in a changing academic landscape. Numerous scholars have discussed how academic disciplines change in light of the impact of larger cultural forces, which in turn affect how faculty members conduct their work and are dealt with by higher education institutions. Virtually all disciplines are affected by such processes, but the focus here is the discipline of adult education, and the perceptions of the faucluly . Currently, there are numerous master’s programs in adult education and related areas, and at least 44 doctoral programs (Sondstrom, Rachal & Mohn, 2012, but little data based research in regard to the state of graduate programs and/or the perceptions of faculty about how they negotiate on behalf of their programs, or about perceptions of faculty issues and satisfaction. This session will report the survey data of a larger mixed methods study that explores these issues.
