Wise Peer—The Healing Art of Listening: A Grounding Listening Technique

Friday, August 10, 2018 at 8:00 AM–9:20 AM PDT
Rm 612
Workshop Description

Wise Peer teaches communication tools for staying present, empowered, energized, and able to witness anything that’s being said. This session is geared toward "Go Family" to give family members tools with which to embrace and navigate profound and important change such that healing takes place. This session presents an “inward-facing” technique of listening that focuses on the listener’s well-being. It teaches a variety of communication tools, especially listening tools, that allow the listener to remain energized, calm, grounded, empowered, and feeling emotionally safe and connected to the speaker, no matter what is being said. This is especially beneficial in settings where challenging material is shared. This "Grounding Listening" focuses on both the listener's and the speaker's well-being with a primary focus on the listener. Wise Peer is grounded in Rogerian client-centered therapy, combined with Jungian Shadow integration, teaching a potent mixture of visualization, embodiment, and communication tools.
