Program Summary/Abstract Description

In this discussion session, the presenters will provide an overview of variations in Seal of Biliteracy (SoBL) policies across the United States. They will share a quick summary of existing research on the SoBL and discuss states with innovative features. The majority of this session will be dedicated to discussion with participants on considerations unique to DL/I programs regarding the SoBL. Questions posed will include: 1) To what extent is the SoBL motivating for students in DL/I programs?, 2) How might we create pathway awards for DL/I students to ensure continued growth in proficiency?, 3) What other considerations are unique to DL/I programs regarding the SoBL?, and 4)  How do we balance accessibility and rigor in SoBL policies?
