Collaborative teaching has been proven to have a profound impact on the learning processes and can be a high leverage strategy in dual language programs to maximize resources. Collaborative instruction promotes the metalinguistic awareness and metacognitive skills of language learners and ensures that all students have access to comprehensibility inputs and use of language at rigorous levels.  Collaborative methods range from informal partnerships to fully developed co-teaching relationships. In this session, participants will be provided with a brief overview of commonly used collaborative styles and of our personal experiences as collaborative dual language teachers in an elementary school. This session will include best practices for efficiently planning lesson modifications, delivering instruction cooperatively, and creating and analyzing assessments.  Student work and assessment data from established collaborative partnerships in dual language classrooms will be presented.
