Program Summary/Abstract Description

In the past seven years, Union County Public Schools has opened 14 dual language immersion programs now spanning Kindergarten through Grade 6. Presenters will share the different accomplishments and challenges of their three models: one-way Mandarin immersion, one-way Spanish immersion and two-way Spanish-English programs. An overview of the district’s vision, data analysis, capacity building, parent input, partnerships, teacher sustainability, professional development and the K - 12 DLI trajectory will be shared. Attendees will hear from founding principals, veteran teachers, parents and students.
