Program Summary/Abstract Description

This session empowers districts in the early implementation of dual language programs with essentials to be successful. Participants will learn a strategic roadmap to build a thriving and comprehensive program. This session will draw connections between the strategic process for implementation and research-based best practice for effective schools managing change.  While there are a number of different program models, critical considerations must be included if the program is to increase language proficiency and academic achievement for it students. The framework includes those instructional approaches and strategies, assessment, professional development, stakeholder engagement, and reflection/refinement cycles for the education of linguistically diverse students that drive and ensures student success. Additional resources, books, and implementation templates will be shared so that participants are able to develop next steps that allow them to integrate pillars into their program plans.
