Program Summary/Abstract Description

Engaging DLI teachers in constructive observations and feedback is essential to teacher excellence and student achievement. This session empowers coaches, administrators, and district leadership with the critical lens to provide feedback in DLI programs. Participants learn how to align the qualities of effective second language acquisition and DLI instruction into the observation, feedback, and coaching cycle in their district.  This session will draw clear connections between the evaluation tool and research-based best practices for the students they serve, and help those charged with providing feedback to teachers with "critical look-fors" when there is a language barrier.  Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on, generate, and collaborate on effective DLI-centered practices that meet the critical attributes of this coaching feedback using sample lessons and their own daily instruction.
