Program Summary/Abstract Description

Only a few universities in a small number of states provide a targeted program leading to initial certification in Dual Language and Immersion Education This means that there are limited paths for teachers who wish to explore DLI Education.  Additionally, the level of support for immersion programs within districts varies greatly--from no support, to local school support, to district-level support spread among many sites or even content-areas. Regardless of the external or official (school-based lead or coordinator) network for support, a strong internal, school-based model for mentoring and program development is essential. This conversation will provide a platform for programs to crowdsource their experiences for successfully planting and growing immersion teachers.
