Learning to Live with Uncertainty

Session Abstract
From a developmental perspective, explore findings from presenter’s Fulbright research in Greece of citizens navigating crisis. Bring your own questions and experiences too in discussing this crucial 21st century need.
Target Audience
Anyone interested in professional or personal growth and/or responsible for effecting change in an array of contexts and interested in dialoguing about the importance of developing these 21st and 22nd century skills so crucial to living and learning in a transforming world.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will: develop increased awareness of how crisis situations provide opportunities for development of self and society; identify the importance (at a global level) of learning to live with uncertainty in our changing world; consider the findings from at least one country and their potential applicability worldwide; recognize issues of development needed by the human species at this critical time, become more knowledgeable through dialogue by hearing each others’ stories that resonate with the theme.
Session Description
Change is a constant in life but during some eras and in certain countries the call for change permeates life itself, requiring shifts that are often of a transformative nature. Such is the case in Greece currently. These moments in the lives of both individuals and countries afford opportunities for growth. The essence of the roundtable draws from the facilitator’s 6 month inquiry while in the country and focuses on one key finding (there are others): Individuals and collectives learning to live with uncertainty, an ability crucial in navigating our changing world. Greece represents a microcosm for issues facing all of humanity. Observed were driving and restraining forces toward growth--those internal or external to the individual, relationships, organizations, communities, the culture, the nation, and international forces. Participants are encouraged to bring their own inquiries as well as life stories that relate to this theme. Curiosity is welcome as well.
Efforts are made to try to schedule sessions on the day preferred by the Primary Presenter, though this cannot be guaranteed. Please check your preference.
