It is time to review the schedule for the placement of your session in the AAACE Agenda. This is the final draft of the Schedule. When you look up your name, use the detail listing to check what days/times you asked to be placed. This is a huge program and we can accommodate necessary changes in day and time now, but may not be able to do so after September 1, 2013 except in emergencies. Please carefully check your placement and send any requests to Ginger Phillips, AAACE Conference Planner with AAACE Session Change Request in the subject line. We will respond to your email, but it may take us up to a week to do so. Thanks for your help in "fine tuning" this agenda!
Concurrent Session (45 minutes)
Two past presidents and a technology specialist will present a rich history of AAACE and its predecessor organizations, including photos and video clips of selected leaders from the past.
The "new guard," "the old geezers," and everyone in between will find this session informative.
Attendees will be presented an overview of the history of the adult education organizations and be able to identify issues and problems, as well as successes, that have impacted our functioning throughout the years. Additionally, brief snippets of the people who have impacted the current association will be presented to give face and voice to the associations's past leaders.
This session will entail a presentation and dialogue of the rich history of AAACE and its previous organizations shared through a multi-media presentation. The History and Philosophy of Adult Education SIG has not been active, and the facilitators are interested in getting attendees involved in the SIG. Santayana's quote "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" serves as a reminder for associations to periodically consider a retrospective so present and future leaders are aware of what has occurred in the past, and what impact the past has on the present and future.
