Program Summary/Abstract Description

Bethesda Elementary is one of 80 elementary schools in Gwinnett County Public Schools, an award winning urban school district.  We began our dual language immersion (DLI) journey in the fall of 2014 and now, four years later our first cohort is moving up to 4th grade.  Although we have a lot to learn about DLI, we would like to share our program design and staff development methods.

During this session, we will share the following best practices:  advertisement and registration for DLI, staffing, staff development, DLI vertical team, grade level planning, and district monthly DLI Advisory Team Meetings.

This session will not be a “sit and get”, we plan on sharing best practices and then opening the floor to other ideas because we want to learn and grow as well.  Our goal is to create a one hour professional learning community where every participant will learn, share, and grow with the ultimate outcome of “Leading and supporting a growing DLI program” from one administrator to the other.
