B2b Home Ownership, Age and the Community
Key Words
Home Ownership, Age, Income, Crime Rate
Short Description
Home ownership is a key driver of individual consumer and community well-being. It is currently under threat, however, due to scarcity and high costs. Research has shown the relationship between home ownership and a lower crime rate in neighborhoods and cities. This study, though, adds to these results by demonstrating the association on a county level. In addition, it indicates that the relationship occurs across all ages in the working population. The research also shows that home ownership in combination with income level better predicts the crime rate than either variable alone. Results from the study give added rationale to county government officials who are seeking to stimulate home ownership among people in their communities.
