Key Words
Mobile banking, financial management, Consumers and Mobile Financial Services data
Short Description
This study examines factors related to positive financial management of mobile banking such as checking account balance or recent transaction, receiving alert, and tracking finances, purchases, and expenses. In particular, this study focuses on the role of technology competence and perceived security and privacy risk of personal information on the positive financial management. Results from the 2015 Consumers and Mobile Financial Services show that objective and subjective technology competence were related to higher odds of being in a higher level of composite indices of positive management behaviors. Respondents who feel safe about security and privacy of personal information in mobile banking had higher the odds of being, in a higher level of positive management behaviors than the other respondents. This study provides important insights for financial practitioners and educators.
