In our presentation, we introduce and model a framework to select, analyze, and incorporate children’s story books into ESL teaching. We examine pedagogical opportunities and challenges of using such authentic texts with learners at various proficiency levels and discuss methods of avoiding cultural essentialism and stereotypes.
