Session Abstract

This interactive presentation introduces participants to the work of the United Nations High Commisioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the writings of Viet Thanh Nguyen, and ways to scaffold and foster academic discussion in the classroom using Anticipation Guides (Zweirs, 2004), Word Analysis, Active Listening, and Accountable Talk (Michaels et al. 2011).
