YOUR Linked Data User Stories

Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:55 AM–12:40 PM EDT
Room 212/213
Session Abstract

Linked data is not just about “triples”, BIBFRAME conversion, catalogers and URIs, SEO with JSON-LD, etc.  Linked data is about library users and how libraries can provide access to information in new ways, building on the rich cataloging information and other data that libraries have created over decades. Since its beginning, the IGeLU-ELUNA Linked Open Data Working Group has fostered the sharing of not just finished projects, but use cases for building new capabilities – and along the way, we identified things Ex Libris would need to do to make those capabilities happen.  Inspired by use cases Harvard developed for Ex Libris, the LOD WG will solicit use cases and "user stories" from the library community to help us see our users in the picture. In this session, we will start with a presentation from Honor Moody of Harvard about use cases Harvard provided to Ex Libris, share a few lightning talks for other user stories we've collected, and have time for an open discussion with YOU about what use cases you find compelling, ways to garner support from Ex Libris, and ways to bring these cases to reality .
