Session Abstract
It has been just over three years since the Kolwyck Library and Information Commons (KLIC) at Chattanooga State Community College migrated from Voyager to Alma/Primo. During this time, we identified multiple problems with user records and are preparing for a multiphase cleanup project to eliminate the problems and introduce routine maintenance going forward. This presentation will introduce others facing the same or similar problems to the procedures and best practices we have documented, as well as our multiphase cleanup project.
Known problems:
- Inconsistent entries
- Duplicate user records
- Inactive user records
- Various types of patrons (STEM students, Dual Enrollment, Community Patrons)
- User records with old bills and/or checkouts that need to be cleared
Multiphase cleanup project:
- Evaluate the data to identify and triage the problems
- Develop a plan for purging records that fall into the various scenarios
- Test those plans
- Full implementation of user purge for cleanup (multistage)
- Develop a plan for regular maintenance of purging user records
