Data Review in the SUNY Aleph to Alma Migration
Session Abstract
In 2017 the Office of Library and Information Services (OLIS) of the State University of New York (SUNY) sponsored a procurement process that resulted in the selection of Alma and Primo to replace Aleph and various discovery tools that have been in place across 61 SUNY campuses. Four of the SUNY institutions are University Research Centers who have maintained Aleph locally while the remaining 57 campuses have been hosted in a shared server environment with Aleph functionality support provided by the OLIS. The migration to Alma and Primo started in earnest in early 2018 with a Vanguard implementation of 5 campuses. The OLIS has focused on Aleph cleanup and created processes to support these activities for the 57 campuses in the shared environment. This session centers on Aleph data review that includes activities gleaned from the Vanguard phase as well as the fall 2018 test load of all campuses. The focus of the session will be on Aleph and will include references to the Aleph environment. However, the intent is to provide information at a general level that could be helpful for institutions or consortia planning data review activities. If interested, detailed information related to Aleph scripts and process would be provided separately outside of this session.
