2013 Annual Conference

November 5–8, 2013

Lexington, KY

It is time to review the schedule for the placement of your session in the AAACE Agenda. This is the final draft of the Schedule. When you look up your name, use the detail listing to check what days/times you asked to be placed. This is a huge program and we can accommodate necessary changes in day and time now, but may not be able to do so after September 1, 2013 except in emergencies. Please carefully check your placement and send any requests to Ginger Phillips, AAACE Conference Planner with AAACE Session Change Request in the subject line. We will respond to your email, but it may take us up to a week to do so. Thanks for your help in "fine tuning" this agenda!

Session Abstract

Augsburg College moved over 300 F2F courses to a hybrid model for the Fall 2013-2014 semester to increase student engagement and enhance learning opportunities for graduate and professional courses.

Target Audience

This session is designed for Program Administrators, providers of faculty Professional Development, and Information Technology support staff of adult education programs that are using or considering using more Hybrid teaching and learning.

Learning Outcomes

Attendees will take away Augsburg’s experience of developing faculty professional development to accomplish the transition from F2F classes to all Hybrid courses; its inclusion of library staff and resources into the new hybrid model; the extensive work plan of the IT academic services staff; and the attention to accessibility for all learners in the new model. Attendees will have access to a participant developed example database of hybrid teaching and learning resources.

Session Description

The Hybrid teaching and learning model is emerging as the model of choice to overcome the limitations of Face2Face course schedules. Hybrid teaching and learning enables education institutions to increase and enhance student contact with the instructor while fostering more student interaction with each other and the course content. The model also allows institutions to more easily comply with federal credit guidelines.

Efforts are made to try to schedule sessions on the day preferred by the Primary Presenter, though this cannot be guaranteed. Please check your preference.
