It is time to review the schedule for the placement of your session in the AAACE Agenda. This is the final draft of the Schedule. When you look up your name, use the detail listing to check what days/times you asked to be placed. This is a huge program and we can accommodate necessary changes in day and time now, but may not be able to do so after September 1, 2013 except in emergencies. Please carefully check your placement and send any requests to Ginger Phillips, AAACE Conference Planner with AAACE Session Change Request in the subject line. We will respond to your email, but it may take us up to a week to do so. Thanks for your help in "fine tuning" this agenda!

Session Abstract

A discussion of the concept of research collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines to re-invigorate teaching and research practice.

Target Audience

Professionals engaging in various categories of research will be interested in participating in this dialogue surrounding cross-discipline research and teaching in higher education. Whether you are on the tenure track, seeking a doctoral degree, or furthering knowledge in your area of expertise, university faculty engaging in cross discipline research is an underutilized possibility.

Learning Outcomes

• Brainstorm topics of research that involve divergent content areas
• Identify potential colleagues at your home institution with whom you might be able to engage in research collaboration
• Re-energize teaching practice as a result of the innovative collaboration
• Make new connections with colleagues and develop unique relationships with undergraduate students assisting in research
• Change your perspective on how to approach teaching and learning in higher education.
• Outline a model through which you can begin a new research collaboration

Session Description

Faculty in higher education oftentimes struggle with innovative ways to contribute new knowledge to their particular discipline. In this interactive session, through small group and large group dialogue, along with brainstorming activities, participants will walk away with new possibilities for ways to expand on current research interests, strategies to develop the research study, and a renewed passion for teaching, learning, and research. Participants will challenge their own perspectives of the purposes and potential for research by actively seeking out colleagues from differing disciplines and develop a mock research study which integrates strategies resulting in a cross- discipline approach to research.

Efforts are made to try to schedule sessions on the day preferred by the Primary Presenter, though this cannot be guaranteed. Please check your preference.
