Session Description

This session is targeted for professionals working in public high schools or organizations serving a large number of students. How do you cover the college search, college list, scholarships and financial aid all in one session with a family? Four seasoned Fairfax County Public School College & Career Center Specialists will share how they provide college admission counseling, programs and services to hundreds of students and families each year.

Amy Hackett Ferguson, Hayfield Secondary School

Amy Hackett Ferguson has been a College & Career Center Specialist in Fairfax County Public Schools for thirteen years, and is currently at Hayfield Secondary School. Prior to this, Amy worked in admissions at Virginia Tech and Old Dominion University.

Iris Malave Compher is a College & Career Specialist at Chantilly High School. Iris’ career in Fairfax County has spanned over 27 years, teaching hundreds of career exploration units for students in grades 7th- 12th.

Hannah Wolff, Langley High School

Hannah Wolff has worked as a College & Career Center Specialist in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) for eight years and is in her sixth year at Langley High School in McLean, VA, a large public high school where 30% of the students are of color.
