D2 - ANCHOR TALK: Collaborating across campus to recruit, enroll, and retain rural STEM students
Session Description
With funding from a NSF-STEM grant, The Rural and Diverse Student Scholars (RADSS) Program at George Mason University offers scholarships and research experiences to academically talented, underrepresented students from rural areas of Virginia pursuing STEM majors. The RADSS program is a collaborative effort between the College of Science, Admissions Office, and the Office of Student Scholarship, Creative Activities and Research. Presenters will share best practices, evaluation methods, and lessons learned.

As the Associate Director of K12 Partnerships, Rachel creates and maintains partnerships to create college going pipelines. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and is pursuing a MPA degree at Mason.
Rebecca Jones, George Mason University
Brief biographical sketch, to include educational background
Dr. Jones is an Associate Professor of Chemistry and a member of the College of Science STEM Accelerator at George Mason University. She earned her PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati and is an active researcher in STEM education.
