This presentation explores the issue of improving language skills in an in-service English teacher development program in Mexico addressing the question of how a CBLI approach fosters academic discourse practices, and how explicit language instruction improves linguistic accuracy. These studies constitute valuable data for enhancing teacher development effectiveness.
