The authors draw from their experiences as collaborative responsive teachers drawing on critical multimodal literacy, dialogic pedagogy, and culturally sustaining pedagogy to offer teachers and researchers meaningful ways to address the complex needs of emergent bilingual learners within the demands of instruction and accountability under No Child Left Behind.
