Carpet Recycling in California - Successes, Challenges, and Learnings
DESCRIPTION
Title: 2018 and 2019 (to-date) CARE Milestones, Progress, and Offerings
The California Carpet Stewardship Program (Program) has continued to grow and see many successes despite dynamic market conditions and macroeconomic challenges. This presentation will examine Program milestones and progress during 2018 and 2019 to-date, as well as cover several Program offerings to stakeholders (i.e., local government, recycling facilities, retailers, etc.). Discussion topics will include but not necessarily be limited to:
- Formation of the Advisory Committee per AB 1158.
- Recycled output and subsidy analysis.
- Successes and learnings of the several grant cycles, including the ongoing micro-grants available to local governments and drop-off site facilities.
- Expanding post-consumer carpet calcium carbonate (PC4) usage in new products, and other innovative market/product development milestones.
- Program-supported public collection sites, including current status and goals.
- Expansion and results of marketing, education and outreach efforts to reach key audiences, including installers.

Her background includes experience as an independent consultant serving municipalities, tribal nations and business; Executive Director for a non-profit recycling collection, processing, and educational outreach organization; as well as Public Relations and Business Assistance for a family-owned waste hauling and recycling corporation.
